Setting: In the universe of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, there exists a group of small, blue-skinned, humanoid beings called The Guardians, the leaders of the Green Lanterns and the self-appointed protectors of the universe. After their first failure at policing the galaxy, they shifted the makings of the Corps based on a very simple premise: the power of will. The power rings that they created were made to seek out the person with the strongest will in whatever sector they occupied, and that person was then appointed as the protector of their given sector. Should a Green Lantern die, their power ring will automatically slip from off of their finger (or tentacle, as the case may be) and set out once more to search for a suitable replacement. The bulk of the Green Lanterns receive their training on Oa alongside their peers, where they are taught the rules and tenets they're expected to obey as well as the more practical battle training they must undergo.

While the Guardians - and the Green Lanterns with them - are able to keep a relatively close eye within their own territory, they are unable to maintain such close scrutiny everywhere. There exists an area called 'frontier space' at the very edge of their jurisdiction, where Green Lanterns are spread few and far between, given only the basics of training from their rings. It's here that Saint Walker's home planet, Astonia, was prior to its destruction at the hands of the Red Lantern Corps. This is where the sordid history of the Guardians comes into play.

The Red Lantern Corps was founded by Atrocitus after Ysmault, his home planet, was destroyed by the army of AI soldiers that had been the Guardians' first attempts at establishing their force. The Manhunters were programmed to be without emotion, and more drastically, believed that all emotion was to be destroyed. This belief led to the destruction of many planets and millions of people before the Guardians accepted their mistake and shut them down - but not before the damage had already been done. Twisted by rage at the injustices that had been done to his people and so many others, Atrocitus gathered those like him and led them in the pursuit of vengeance for what they had done. GLTAS' universe is not so terribly unlike most others in that violence does not end, and merely travels in a vicious circle, resulting in more damage and death than before. In the pursuit of vengeance for his own people, Atrocitus destroyed many more, Saint Walker's planet among them. The Red Lanterns sought to enter the more densely populated area of Guardian Space to launch an attack on the planets underneath the Guardians' protection and Oa itself. Saint Walker played his part in halting this attack, banding together with Green Lanterns Kilowog and Mogo to halt the armada in its tracks - which is eventually what they did in fact achieve.

It cannot be said that the Red Lanterns were defeated in the most traditional sense, but their quest for vengeance was halted once they reached the heart of Oa and the Guardians were forced to confront and acknowledge their previous actions for once and for all. With Atrocitus dispatched through the actions of Hal Jordan, the Red Lanterns cease their war in return for the reparation of their zone.

The Green and Red Lanterns are but two examples of the emotional spectrum. There's a rainbow of colours that stand for individual emotions: red rage, orange avarice, yellow fear, green willpower, compassionate indigo, violet love, and blue hope. Each of these colours have their own Corps of a sort except for orange avarice, which is led only by a single being called Larfleeze, whose all-consuming greed ensures that he is the only one that will ever be in the possession of an orange ring. Those in possession of violet rings - the Star Sapphires - had once lived alongside the Guardians until their aversion to emotions led them to leave and create their own faction. The Star Sapphires are an all-female group led by Aga'po, and seek to spread the idea of love, though their ideas had become twisted throughout the years.

While the green, red, orange, and violet factions existed before the events of the series, the Blue Lantern Corps is the newest addition, and Saint Walker possesses the unique honour of being the very first Blue Lantern. His Corps was founded by Ganthet, a Guardian that was banished from the rest of his kind due to his disagreement with their insistence upon remaining divorced from all emotion. Walker's own part in the formation of the Blue Lantern Corps is not one that should be understated, however; only one able to possess hope through intolerable conditions and one willingly choosing that path would have been able to be gifted the ring. Saint Walker had once been a holy man on his home planet, by all means a peaceful planet, with a wife and two children he had dearly loved. Once everything he had ever known and loved had been ripped away from him, it would have been all too easy to lose himself to the rage and despair of the very people that had destroyed his planet, but Walker stood strong.

With the help of Mogo, the sentient planet he found himself on, he refused to give up on life and kindness, and refused to allow his tragedy to define him. Walker also refused the call of the Green Lantern ring, feeling that his path was a different one - and indeed it was. Mogo bid him to climb its tallest peak in order to find the saviour he sought, and to do so required a test of faith of the highest measure as the Red Lanterns on Mogo's soil left unhindered. With the choice to run and rail against his enemies or to keep faith and climb, Walker chose the latter, but found no saviour at the top. Still, he proclaimed his hope for a better time and his willingness to fight, and with this show of strength, the first Blue Lantern ring came into his possession.

Though the Blue Lantern Corps only has two members to its name - Saint Walker and its newest member, Brother Warth - Ganthet forged out a home for them on Odym, a planet of their very own. Here, the Blue Lantern Corps is free to train, to meditate, and to do what they will with the power they have received.

Personality: Above all else, Saint Walker is a man - alien - of peace. He is of the belief that all beings are deserving of second chances, no matter what their crimes may be, and is willing to act as a guide in order to get them there. He's a huge believer of rehabilitation and reform, which is particular notable in his desire to help Razer, a clearly marked member of the Corps that had destroyed his planet. A belief in redemption is often philosophical in nature, but Walker puts his money where his mouth is and truly lives what he preaches. Whether or not one buys into the idea of enlightenment, what is undeniable is the fact that there is a sense of eminent serenity to Walker, and it is very rare that any given occurrence is able to throw him off his guard.

While these traits make him an excellent mentor and leader as he is invested in the lives of others and will continue to push and prod them to better themselves, it does mean that he can appear rather distant from his fellows. His hope burns as intensely as any other emotion, but it is a cold burn rather than a hot one, powering him to think clearly about any situation and to keep striving when others in his situation would have given up. Above all else, he has great resilience, having lived through the destruction of his planet and loved ones and - with the help of Mogo - making it to the other side not unscathed, but as whole and decent a man as he was before.

Saint Walker does view the world through a very specific lens, and this makes it very easy for one to dismiss him as simply a zen mentor, existing in a bubble for the sole purpose of the betterment of others, but that is not the case. He regards simple pranks with frank amusement, and quite enjoys side-stepping and obscuring his answers with jest for no apparent reason other than the fact that he simply enjoys it. He's a man of deep pleasures, and some of these pleasures include watching travelers get gently tossed around at the whims of nature and then loudly laughing at them. He's playful with friends and strangers alike, and once these strangers do inevitably become his friends, he finds great joy in their company.

Being a man of peace does not mean that he's not capable of war, however, and he is willing to take swift action when the situation calls for it and to plunge into almost-certain death in order to do the right thing. He may be averse to death, but he's not so married to the idea of peace that he can't see the necessity of fighting in more than a purely defensive maneuver.

Appearance: Saint Walker is an alien more on the humanoid side, but he is visibly an alien nonetheless. His large eyes are entirely black, with double-lids, one covering his eyes horizontally and the other covering his eyes vertically. His skin is white and smooth, not unlike an amphibian's, and he is conspicuously without a nose. A tail extends from the back of his head, and reaches just past his shoulders.

Otherwise, his form is nearly identical to a human's. He has very broad shoulders and a tapered torso; overall, he's really quite slender. When he's not in his Blue Lantern uniform - a spandex-looking uniform that covers him from neck to feet in black and blue - he's typically seen wearing simple clothing in muted colours. The only other marking of note is a tattoo he has on his left bicep, of two lines that form a vaguely diamond-esque shape in the middle.

Abilities:
Blue Lantern Abilities:
Flight
Protective Aura: Allows Saint Walker to comfortably survive in hostile conditions such as space
Limited Energy Constructs: Much like the Green Lanterns, a blue power ring allows for the creation of energy constructs, albeit on a much lesser scale. These mostly take the form of lasers and forcefields on the battlefield, and are otherwise used for the creation of small objects like a ball or a lute.
Green Lantern Augmentation: Blue Lanterns are able to 'supercharge' Green Lanterns or anything made up of Green Lantern energy.
Green Lantern Augmentation (2): The power of a Blue Lantern is also augmented by proximity to a Green Lantern. Their abilities remain very much the same, only much stronger. For even more power, Saint Walker is able to siphon huge amounts green lantern energy focused on him through his ring for an incredibly powerful blast.
Red Lantern Corruption: Red Lantern rings don't work when in proximity with a Blue Lantern ring.

Inherent Abilities:
Even without his ring, Saint Walker is in peak physical condition. He's an extremely agile climber, able to leap from tree to tree with ease, and is able to jump unnaturally high - which is possibly due to his alien physiology. In addition to his agile nature, he is a practiced martial artist. His particular form is one intended to reduce movements to use only the necessary energy to ward off attackers, and he uses his skills predominantly as a defense mechanism; to take someone out using force is always a last resort. To this end, he is knowledgeable of the pressure points on regular humanoid forms, and is able to spot and use them in order to neutralize potential threats.

Suitability: Considering Saint Walker's personal history involves the destruction of his planet and his people, the emerging darkness in TuShan's narrative is not much of an issue at all. While he's not comfortable with the idea of war, it's certainly not unfamiliar to him, and he's already vocalized his willingness to fight against injustice whenever it presents itself (and, as is evident by his abilities section, he is physically capable of doing so). In addition to the war-aspects of the game, his willingness to instruct, listen and help will fit in nicely when it comes to acting as a support for other characters in hard times.

Inventory: 1 Blue Lantern Ring

Suite: Water, and a single floor should be fine. My reasoning for this is that Saint Walker fits the description of its inhabitants to a tee (which is to say, yes, he is a giant hippie a lot of the time). He cares very little for the physical trappings of wealth and would gladly sacrifice it in exchange for being housed alongside people who appreciate serenity as much as he does.

In-Character Samples:
Third Person: Saint Walker would forever miss Astonia and its achingly familiar craggy rocks and lush vegetation, but that does not in any way obscure the beauty of his new home. Odym is a sweet tempered planet, a place of still lakes and rolling hills, a place of gentle repose where one could come to rest, to learn, to heal. Even the safest of planets require further exploration, however, and Walker is all too happy to set out into its wilds, Brother Warth at his side. There is joy to be found in all this newness, and it's not at all rare for Saint Walker to pause as he goes to admire some new oddity. There is no use in hurrying through this exploration, not when patience will unearth far more truths than sheer bullheaded determination would.

They walk in silence, allowing the birdsong and the buzz of insects to wash over them until they eventually reach a mountain. It's utterly unlike the mountain Walker had climbed on Mogo, shorter and far more habitable, with its cold, clear rivers and the sweet fruits dotting its paths, but Walker is abruptly reminded of the climb he had made nonetheless.

Walker stills himself, remembering the way the very earth seemed to rumble beneath him as Mogo gave him a single command: Climb. He had previously thought that his moment of true survival was his ability to recover past the death of all that he had known and to claw himself out of that deep pit of despair. He knows now that that is not true. There are many out there who have come out of the other side of great tragedy as survivors without the ability to truly live as they allow their quests for vengeance to cloud their eyes, minds and hearts to the bounty that the universe has still yet to offer them. The true test is not one of resilience, but one of resistance. He can still recall the feeling of that moment, seeing the very people who had destroyed all that he had once held dear in front of them, and facing the choice to chase after them, or to continue his ascent and to have faith in an ending without any unnecessary bloodshed.

Now that he has a power ring, he could just as easily fly to the peak of this mountain, and continue up far, far above it. There is no worth, however, in seeing the end without any knowledge of the journey, and he thinks that this particular journey will be a good one indeed. He turns his head towards Brother Warth, a faint smile etched across his features, and points up to the peak ahead of them.

"Come, brother. Let us climb."

Network: [Good afternoon, everyone. Today, your console has been graced with the presence of one alien face. The smile he directs at the camera is both gentle and pleasant, though his black eyes are utterly unreadable.

Musingly:]
I was told that I was brought here to fight a war against a foe we are not permitted to name, though first I am to procure employment so that I may stay in the comfortable accommodations that have been made for me. [These comfortable accommodations are, in fact, in the Water Sector. They're not luxurious to many, but they certainly are to him.] Which is very odd indeed! In the midst of a war, I had expected something a bit more... sparse.

[He pauses, gaze diverted out the window to where he knows people and a bustling city await further exploration, but returns his attentions to the screen shortly thereafter.]

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Saint Walker. The people that had welcomed me into this place have been informative, but I'm inclined to seek out alternative sources, and so I turn to you. If you have any information or advice about this place, you would have my thanks. Or, of course, if you've any information about employment. I'm afraid I haven't had a job in the traditional sense in quite some time.

REVISIONS

THE GUARDIANS AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS:

At the beginning, the Star Sapphires - bearers of the indigo rings powered by the emotion of love - and the Guardians were one, both members of the same powerful race hailing from the planet Maltus. Disgusted by their fellows' rejection of all emotion, the Star Sapphires broke off to create their all-female corps on Zamaron, a planet in Frontier Space. Without the presence of those preaching the merits of emotion, the Guardians created their first wave of officers in the form of the Manhunters, a police force of robots meant to maintain peace and order across the galaxy. This was not the Guardians' first foray into an automated peacekeeping system. Eons ago, a renegade Guardian by the name of Krona built the Anti-Monitor, a machine of the utmost power. Capable of time travel and turning anything into anti-matter for its consumption - even an entire universe - it was seen as the danger that it was, and Krona banished it to another dimension.

Sadly, the Manhunters were also hugely flawed. Their lack of emotion proved to be their downfall as the Manhunters saw all emotion as an aberration that had to be extinguished and went about ravaging entire planets, creating the sparsely populated area known as the Forgotten Zone. Once they saw their folly, the Guardians shut down the Manhunters and quietly swept the truth under the rug underneath the rationale that if their mistakes were to become common knowledge, those they sought to protect would no longer trust them.

In lieu of the Manhunters, the Guardians founded what is now known as the Green Lantern Corps, a police force made up of live, sentient, emotional beings this time, able to exercise free will and to judge morality the shades of grey that the Guardian-made robotic beings were unable to understand. Green Lanterns are chosen on the basis of their ability to overcome great fear and therefore harness the power of will required to operate a Green Lantern ring. Upon receiving a ring, members that travel to Oa for training with the exemption of those in Frontier Space, who are too far away to travel that far a distance. Once their training is complete, they are assigned their given sector of space to protect. The Green Lantern Corps has 7200 members to the 3600 sectors of space underneath the Guardians' jurisdiction. These 3600 sectors to not encapsulate all of space, but the ones that the Guardians have decided that they have jurisdiction over. There are some areas where their influence is minor (such as in Frontier Space), some areas that they may be unaware of, or others that they broadly keep away from because of conflicting events in their long history. Nevertheless, the 3600 sectors they do claim authority over takes up a huge amount of space.

Some of these sectors need only a single Green Lantern to patrol it, but larger ones may require several Lanterns in order to properly police it; the default, however, is simply two Lanterns to a sector. Not all Green Lanterns are the equivalent of space beat cops. Some may operate out of Oa to train the new recruits or to act as administrators. Green Lanterns that have proven themselves out on the field may be promoted into the Honour Guard, not assigned to any particular sector, but the universe itself. They are put into action in situations that require greater finesse or force.

In the case that any Green Lantern is killed, their ring immediately leaves its previous owner's body in order to search for a suitable replacement. If there is someone in the area who possesses great will, the ring will choose them (or, if there is more than one, the ring will simply choose the closest one), but it will return to Oa if there are no suitable candidates. As such, the Green Lanterns are chosen rather than actively recruited, making the scope of the Guardians' power and the representation of so many different species possible.

The Guardians managed to create and equip the Green Lantern Corps by harnessing the green energy of willpower, a living entity known as Ion. This green energy is kept in a casing known as the Central Battery in the heart of Oa, and it is from this that every Green Lantern draws their power. Each Green Lantern is given their very own Power Battery to act as a conduit from the Central Battery so that Green Lanterns may recharge their Power Rings wherever in the universe they may be. To charge up a Power Ring, the Green Lantern needs onto to hold their ring to the battery and to recite the Green Lantern Oath:

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power--Green Lantern's light!"

The Power Batteries and Rings of the differently coloured Corps work in very much the same way, though each colour is in possession of a different Oath.

CHARACTERS MENTIONED IN THE APP:

HAL JORDAN is the protagonist of Green Lantern: The Animated Series. He's officially the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 - Earth's sector - until he is promoted to Honour Guard as a result of his hand in Atrocitus' defeat. He's a brash figure without much regard to pesky things like rules or regulations, which enables him to act directly counter the Guardians' wishes and outside of his given jurisdiction. This led to him stealing (borrowing) a high tech ship called the Interceptor from Oa in order to fly into Frontier Space to investigate the mysterious deaths of Frontier Space's Green Lanterns at the hands of the Red Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan and his small crew were instrumental in alerting the Guardians of the Red Lantern Corps' existence, identifying their plans to invade and wreak havoc upon Guardian Space, and taking measures to stop them in their tracks.

ATROCITUS is the leader of the Red Lantern Corps. He had lived on the planet of Ysmault prior to its destruction at the hands of the Manhunters, and his rage at his planet's sorry fate spurred him to form his own faction, geared towards taking vengeance upon those who wronged him. He instigates conflict on other planets, seeking others filled with enough hate to join him on his quest to conquer the Guardians.

MOGO is a sentient planet in Frontier Space. With the power to control its own natural life, Mogo had taken it upon itself to house any wayward criminals that found themselves on its soil and to prevent them from leaving. In addition to its punishment of criminals, Mogo also housed Saint Walker and gave him support and guidance when he needed it. It is now a member of the Green Lantern Corps, and though it has limited mobility, is one of the strongest members the Corps can boast among its ranks.

KILOWOG is a Green Lantern from the (now destroyed) planet of Bolovak Vik, whose primary job is to act as a drill sergeant for new recruits on Oa. He left this post to accompany Hal Jordan into frontier space, where he fought against the Red Lanterns alongside his crew.

GANTHET is one of the Guardians, but unlike the others that preached against emotion, he became increasingly disillusioned with the constant rejection of emotions. He is shown to be more willing to act against the rest of the Guardians' wishes and has repeatedly acted to support Hal Jordan and his crew's less than law-abiding actions, including the theft of the Interceptor - and it is his part in this theft that eventually gets him banished from Oa. Ganthet then goes on to found the Blue Lantern Corps on the planet of Odym.

BROTHER WARTH is the second member of the Blue Lantern Corps. He was handpicked by Saint Walker and assessed by Ganthet as a worthy member of their cause. (Note: This was not elaborated upon in GLTAS, where he only had a couple of lines, but is his canonical backstory in the DCU.)
